The new blog!

As mentioned earlier Christian and I have started a new blog after our stay in Houston. It is now up and running. We have a lot of exciting things going on this semester and will present some of it on the blog, in addition to other tools we find useful.

Everything has to come to an end!

So now it is over. We have been working on our final exams for Rice and UIO the last weeks and have not done a lot of interesting stuff. We had a wonderful dinner with the whole group and Eric's parents on Thursday evening. I managed to sprain my ankle on Wednesday and had to sit in a wheelchair in the hospital, I also got to use one of those electric shopping carts at central market (pretty awesome). But after one day with crouches I am able to walk pretty good.

The stay at Gründerskolen has been wonderful. We have had a crazy life these last months, I would recommend it to everyone wanting to have some months of American high life. We have done a lot these months, some of which you can see on this blog. But now it's time to move on to different things. Houston is a interesting city, but I would recommend people to travel to other places in Texas as well. The lectures at Rice have been really good. I want to thank everyone for reading my/our posts (1700 views, WOW!). I will not continue writing on this blog, but I will let it live on in the digital world for information purposes.

Christian and I am working on making a new blog and it will be up and running after the summer, if you are interested the address is: http://www.inmyinnovation.com

Just for those interested:
Asbjørn is in NYC for some time.
Christer and his wife Anna are travelling Texas for four weeks.
Christian had to go home to earn some cash after living the American high life  :).
Silje and I will leave Houston on Monday and fly to Phoenix. There we will rent a car and travel to: Scottsdale, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, LA, San Fransisco and then fly to New York.

Wedding

On Thursday I left for my brothers wedding. It was a long trip, since the wedding was in Ølandet, about a 2 hour drive from Værnes airport. The wedding was really successful and we had a great time. Now I am back in Houston for my last two weeks. The rest of the time we are here, we will probably finish our final project at Rice and work on the reflection report we have to send to UIO. So not a lot of interesting stuff happening! BUT, tonight Christer, Asbjørn, Christian and I are going to a Papa Roach concert at warehouse live. Hopefully it will be awesome!

A blog I have been working on at Testmasters

15th of May, 17th of May and Bon Jovi.....

Houston holds the highest number of Norwegians outside Scandinavia, with over 5000 Norwegians. So of course some of us(those not in Las Vegas) went to the Norwegian Seaman's church in Pasadena on Sunday the 15th of May. About 800 Norwegians joined us for "17. Mai-tog", hot dogs, waffles, cakes, Solo and games. It was very nice. On the 17th of May we had the day of from work. We had a barbecue at Camden and most of us went to the Bon Jovi Concert in the evening. Even though I'm not a huge fan, $9 tickets makes anyone a fan. The concert was good! Check out the pictures:

Long time no see.....

I apologize for not writing any posts the last week! We are still alive, but have a lot to do these days! We went to Austin again this weekend, but I took 3 pictures and I wrote a post on Austin some weeks ago, so I will not do that again. But I have to mention that the bats appeared this time. They live under a bridge in Austin and come out in millions after sunset. Seeing all of them was amazing! We also went to the OTC(Offshore Technology Conference), and there were a lot of Norwegian companies there. The Norwegian pavilion was the biggest.
OTC - Kongsberg stand
The upcoming weekend, most of the group is going to Las Vegas. But those staying at home (I will go the 17th of June, so I won't go there) will celebrate 17th of May on Sunday the 15th at Sjømannskirken. Don't know why they celebrate 17th of May on the 15th, but who cares. We have the day of from work on the 17th of May and will do something nice during the day. In the evening we are going to the Bon Jovi concert in Toyota Center. So that will probably be a lot of fun!

Maybe I will be able to make Asbjørn or Christian put in some Las Vegas pictures later!

Smoothie King is awesome!

Destruction derby in Waller

I played a lot of destruction derby on my computer in 95-96, but I hadn't thought about it the last 10 years. Until this day. We were going to destruction derby in Waller, 45 minutes northwest of Houston. We drove in the middle of nowhere and suddenly this huge field filled with cars appeared. This was definitely the hillbilly, redneck event of the year. But it was awesome. I didn't bring my camera, so I apologize for the low picture quality. I will force Asbjørn to upload his pictures. But for now, check out the pictures and the video in the bottom.
